Enrolment Information
In June 2024, our Te Puke High School Board of Trustees approved an enrolment scheme and zone. This was done in consultation with and directed by the Ministry of Education to protect against the risk of future overcrowding. This enrolment scheme will mean Te Puke High School will be able to plan more accurately for the future by giving us a clear picture of the number of students who will be attending and will enable us to ensure stable staffing levels and appropriate resourcing.
Students who are currently enrolled at Te Puke High School will not be affected by these changes.

In Zone Enrolments
- Any student who lives within our enrolment zone is eligible to enrol at Te Puke High School.
The enrolment scheme has a transitional provision that provides for any sibling of a student who currently attends Te Puke High School as at 1 January 2025 to have the right of enrolment as an in-zone student. This transitional provision applies for a period of five years from 1 January 2025. If applying for enrolment under this part of the Enrolment Scheme, the siblings name, and evidence of a sibling relationship may be required by the school.
Section 75 of the Education and Training Act 2020 sets out the definition of a “sibling” for these purposes.
The residential address given at the time of enrolment for the primary caregiver must be the student’s usual place of residence and will be used to determine whether a student is considered in-zone or out-of-zone. Proof of residence will be required at the time of enrolment.
You will need to complete an online enrolment application form and also provide us with the following documentation.
A copy of the student’s birth certificate if born in NZ.
A copy of the student’s passport and resident/student visa if born outside of NZ. (If born in Australia, only a passport is required).
A subject selection form will also need to be completed for the Option rotation subjects.
Proof of residence in the school zone may be requested.
IN ZONE ENROLMENT APPLICATIONS OPEN 31 JULY 2024
Out of Zone Enrolments
Out of Zone enrolments for 2025 will open online from 31 July 2024 and will close on 2 September 2024.
Out of zone applications will be processed in the following order of priority (as per the Ministry of Education guidelines).
- First priority must be given to students who have been accepted for enrolment in the above special programme(s) run by the school and approved by the Secretary for Education. Te Puke High School has the following approved special programmes:
- Te Ringa Awhina Special Education Unit (Student must be verified as ORS High or Very High Needs funded).
- Te Ara Poutama (Rumaki) Māori Immersion Programme at Year 9 and 10. (A separate application form for this program will need to be completed and attached to the enrolment form).
- Second priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of current students. The enrolment scheme gives right of enrolment to any sibling who was enrolled at Te Puke High School as at 1 January 2025. This transitional provision applies for a period of five years. Siblings covered by the transitional provision will be considered in-zone students and will only need to complete an in-zone application.
- Third priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
- Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
- Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
- Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions by the Secretary under Schedule 20 (2) of the Education and Training Act 2020.
Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
Stage One applications must be received by 9am on 2 September 2024 and will require the following documentation to be attached:
