TPHS Athletics Day – 22nd February

It was an awesome day on Thursday for the Te Puke High School Athletics at Litt Park.

The weather really played its part which allowed the students to enjoy all the running and track events on offer.

The highlight of the day has to go to outstanding High Jumper, Julian Wharewera, who broke the school’s senior boys high jump record. It was previously held by Whana Barton who set the height of 1.81m in 1993.  Julian who was in fine form, successfully completed a jump of 1.86m setting a new impressive record. Well done Julian!

All the competitors showed a great attitude throughout the day and looked to have lots of fun!

Another couple of highlights were the Special Education 100 metre dash and the closely contested House relay to finish.

A big thank you to the student volunteers who provided assistance at all the stations, played music, made food stalls and got drone photography and videos. Also, thank you to the teachers assisting Mr. Hopkins to run an excellent event.

The sports department are finalising the results and footage and will post them shortly.

We are looking to send a Te Puke High Athletics team to the BOP Champs in a couple of weeks to represent the school.  Details to follow in the daily notices.
